Urumqi
Urumqi, the capital, political, economic and cultural center of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, covers an area of 14,216 square kilometers with the population of 3.5 million. It is the most inland city in China even in the world as the most remote city from any sea.
Urumqi is the stopover for the further exploration of this fabulous land and the great Silk Road. Ethnic diversity especially the Uyghurs, which looks like Caucasian/Turkish than Chinese with their unique culture and custom can be enjoyed here. In recent years, thanks to ‘The Belt and Road’, Urumqi has become a unique destination for business, leisure, travel, discovery to facilitate an exchange between East and West.
The famous Heavenly Lake, the Museum of Xinjiang, the Southern Mosque are located in Urumqi.
Nowadays, it is the cultural and economic center of Qinghai Province and it has become a hot tourist destination especially in summer vacations. Its strategic location makes Xining the transportation hub for traveling to Gansu, Tibet and Xinjiang. The most famous and popular attractions are Qinghai Lake, Ta’er Monastery, Donguan Grand Mosque.
