Ningxia
Classification:

Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region, abbreviated as Ning, with the capital city Yinchuan, is one of the five major autonomous regions in China. It is located in the upper reaches of the Yellow River in western China, bordered by Shaanxi Province to the east, Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region to the west and north, and Gansu Province to the south. The total area is over 66,000 square kilometers, with a population of 6.9579 million. Ningxia is one of the birthplaces of Chinese civilization, situated on the "Silk Road," and historically served as an important passage for trade between the east and west. As a region traversed by the Yellow River, it also has an ancient and long-standing Yellow River civilization. Evidence of human habitation in Ningxia dates back 30,000 years. In 1038 AD, the Tangut people established the Western Xia Dynasty here, forming the Western Xia culture. It has long been known as the "South of the Great Wall." Major tourist attractions in Ningxia include the beautiful Liupan Mountain Scenic Area; the famous desert tourism area with rich western characteristics—Zhongwei Shapotou; and the most densely concentrated imperial mausoleum area in China—the Western Xia Royal Tombs.
