The Jade Buddha Temple
The Jade Buddha Temple is a venerable and famous Buddhist temple in the western part of Shanghai. In 1882, an old temple was built to keep two jade Buddha statues which had been brought from Burma by a monk named Huigen. The temple was destroyed during the revolution that overthrew the Qing Dynasty. Fortunately the statues were saved and a new temple was built on the present site in 1928. Jade Buddha Temple is one of the Shanghai must-see attractions, the most famous thing of Jade Buddha Temple is not the architectural idea which was conveyed in Song Dynasty, the valuable essence lies in the Buddha figures. As most of the tourist said, the aromatic incense that floats through the air on the premises inside the Jade Buddha Temple gets any visitor in the temple visit mood and it can seek quiet from noise, is extolled as a pure land in the bustling city. During your visit, please do kindly notice there is no photography permitted in the Jade Buddha Temple.
