Chengdu Shuangliu International Airport is located in Chengdu, Sichuan, China, 16 kilometers from the city center. Its predecessor was the Chengdu Shuangguisi Airport, which was established in 1938; it was renamed Chengdu Shuangliu Airport in 1956; and in 1995, it was renamed Chengdu Shuangliu International Airport. The second terminal of Chengdu officially began operations in 2012. It is one of the eight major regional hub airports in China and serves as an aviation hub and cargo distribution center in inland China. The airport has two terminals, with a waiting area of 500,000 square meters. In addition to regular international and domestic routes, there are frequent short-haul flights, such as to Kunming, the capital of Yunnan Province, and Xining, the capital of Qinghai Province. Additionally, Shuangliu Airport is the largest transfer airport to Lhasa Gonggar Airport.
