If you don't want to spend too much time on the road, Mutianyu Great Wall is a great choice. Under good traffic conditions, it takes about 1 to 1.5 hours to drive from downtown Beijing to Mutianyu. It is located in Huairou District of Beijing, 73 kilometers away from the city, and was built during the Northern Qi dynasty, later restored in the Ming dynasty. Today, Mutianyu is considered the best-preserved and highest-quality section of the Great Wall compared to other parts. The Mutianyu section is 22 kilometers long and 5 meters wide, with a total of 22 watchtowers. Here, forests cover more than 96% of the scenic area, offering breathtaking views throughout the year. In spring, flowers bloom; in summer, the grass is lush; in autumn, fruits are abundant, especially in October when the leaves turn red or yellow, complementing the mountain tops. In winter, the Great Wall is covered in snow, making it even more majestic. Due to renovations, climbing the Mutianyu Great Wall has become easier and safer. The cable car and slideway provide convenience for the elderly and add fun for children during the visit.
