The Qinhuai River
The Qinhuai River is the biggest branch of Yangtze River in Nanjing, which witnesses the most prosperous time of this city. It is 110 km in length, was originally called Huai River, and it is said that the river was channeled to the city of Nanjing during the reign of Emperor Qin Shi Huang, so it was named Qinhuai River from then on. There are many famous sites of interest along the banks of this River, such as Confucius Temple, Zhanyuan Garden and the sights along the Taoye Ferry ride to Zhenhuai Bridge. Taking a cruise tour on the river is another way to explore this ancient city, especially for night boat which is kindly a great appreciation for the most splendid views. The tour usually lasts 1-2 hours.
