The Stone Forest Geological Park

The Stone Forest Geological Park is located in the Shilin Yi autonomous county, 78 kilometers from the downtown area of Kunming. With an elevation of 1,500–1,900 meters and an annual average temperature of about 16 C, it is the only karst landform scenic spot in a subtropical plateau in the world. It is known as the "Peerless Wonder" and "Stone Forest Museum". It is bring shocking and unforgettable experiences for the tourists. The Stone Forest was shaped about 280 million years ago during the carboniferous period. It covers an area of 400 square kilometers and has five scenic areas, including the Bushao Mountain Scenic Area in the northwest, the Major Stone Forest Area and Minor Stone Forest in the center, the Wannianlingzhi Scenic Area in the south, and the Liziyuanqing Scenic Area in the east, with a total area of about 12 square kilometers.
