Shangri-La
Classification:

Shangri-La in Tibetan means "the sun and moon in the heart". It is the capital of the Diqing Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture in Yunnan Province, located in the northwestern part of Yunnan Province, in the heart of the Hengduan Mountains on the Tibetan Plateau. It is at the junction of Yunnan, Sichuan, and Tibet, and is also the site of the world natural heritage site "Three Parallel Rivers". The total area here is 11,613 square kilometers, with a total population of 174,585 people. During the Jin Dynasty, it was known as Ma'er Gan; during the Northern and Southern Dynasties, it belonged to the Dangxiang tribe; during the Sui Dynasty, it was under the jurisdiction of Nanning Prefecture; after the mid-Ming Dynasty, it was called Zhongdian; during the Qing Dynasty, it was established as Lijiang Prefecture; and in 1956, the Diqing Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture was set up. The Shangri-La Tibetan area has a long history and beautiful natural scenery, with attractions such as Pudacuo National Park, Dukezong Ancient Town, Ganden Songzanlin Monastery, and Tiger Leaping Gorge.
