Xiangyang - Wudang Mountain - Shennongjia - Yichang - Enshi - Jingmen - Jingzhou - Honghu - Wuhan - Suizhou - Beijing

Day 1 Beijing - Xiangyang (approximately 11 hours by car, 1055 kilometers)
Today we depart from Beijing by car to Xiangyang, and after arriving, check into the hotel to rest. Stay in Xiangyang hotel for 1 night.
 

Day 2 Xiangyang - Wudang Mountain (approximately 1.5 hours by car, 140 kilometers)
After breakfast, visit the national 4A scenic area, the place where the great politician and military strategist Zhuge Liang lived for ten years during the Three Kingdoms period - 【Gulongzhong】 (approximately 2 hours of sightseeing). Visit the stone archway, cross the small rainbow bridge, tour the Wuhou Shrine, and pay respects at the site of Zhuge Wuhou's three generations of loyalty. Explore the Three Visits Hall and the site of the thatched cottage, and feel the serene and detached realm where Zhuge Liang once lived amidst the beautiful mountains of Longzhong. Visit the 【Ancient City Wall】, known for its height and solidity, wide and deep moat, and the natural defenses provided by the surrounding mountains and rivers, hence it is called "Iron-clad Xiangyang". Explore the "First City of China, the Widest in Asia" - the city moat, which has an average width of over 180 meters, and at its widest point exceeds 250 meters. Today's city wall and moat are no longer the fortifications against enemies, but their beautiful silhouette still adorns the city's landscape, silently telling the history and stories of this city. Afterward, drive to the sacred site of Taoism - Wudang Mountain. Stay in Wudang Mountain hotel for 2 nights.



Day 3 Wudang Mountain
After breakfast, take the scenic area sightseeing bus to explore the 【Wudang Mountain Scenic Area】. Take the eco-friendly bus to Qiongtai, then ride the cable car up the mountain to visit 【Golden Summit】, passing through the Zhuangyun Hall, paying respects at Taihe Palace, Huangjing Hall, Wansheng Pavilion, and Lingguan Hall, entering the Forbidden City, and reaching the world's first hall - Golden Summit, experiencing the magnificent scenery of Wudang with "Seventy-two Peaks Facing the Main Peak, Twenty-four Streams Flowing Long". Visit 【Nanyan Palace】, pay respects to Zhenwu Emperor, explore the cliff stone hall, taste the holy water, burn the dragon head incense, and visit the most well-preserved palace in Wudang Mountain, the largest Taoist temple - 【Zixiao Palace】, listening to Taoist music and feeling the Taoist atmosphere. Afterward, visit 【Taizi Slope】, appreciating the four wonders of the ancient architectural complex: "One mile, four gates; ten miles of osmanthus fragrance; nine bends of the Yellow River wall; one pillar, twelve beams".

Day 4 Wudang Mountain - Shennongjia (approximately 3.5 hours by car, 210 kilometers)
After breakfast, drive to Shennongjia, visiting the Yantian National Forest Park, characterized by "majestic, beautiful, secluded, and wild" (approximately 1 hour), exploring the 【Swallow Pass】 at an altitude of 2200 meters, viewing the highest scenic bridge in Asia - Yantian Yunfei Bridge and Huixian Bridge; from the mountain peak, observe the Zizhu River Valley basin and the habitat of the short-billed golden swallow at Swallow Cave. Visit the 【Tiansheng Bridge Scenic Area】 (approximately 1 hour), where the waterfall of Tiansheng Bridge cascades down the cliff like a galaxy pouring to the ground, with jade beads splashing, showcasing various charms: the scenic area includes Tiansheng Stone Bridge, Yin Pool, Laojun Listening to Waves, clear mountain streams, and the thatched cottages of the Ba people, enjoying ancient hall dramas, tasting Shennong cloud mist tea, drinking authentic corn wine, and trying Shennong happy cakes, together forming a harmonious paradise of man and nature. Afterward, visit the 【Shennong Altar Scenic Area】 (approximately 1 hour): the entire scenic area is divided into the main sacrificial area, ancient botanical garden, and thousand-year-old ancient firs. The sacrificial area consists of the Heaven Altar and Earth Altar, built against the mountain, with the main building being a giant statue of Shennong with a cow's head and a human body; the ancient botanical garden contains hundreds of rare national plants, such as blood maple, ginkgo, camphor, and dove tree. Stay in Shennongjia Muyu Town for 1 night.
 

Day 5 Shennongjia
After breakfast, visit the 【Shennongding Nature Reserve】, where you can immerse yourself in the forest and breathe fresh air, feeling incredibly refreshed; observe wildlife at Xiaolongtan, hike through the primitive forest of Jinhou Ridge, enjoy the unique canyon scenery of Shennong Valley, and gaze from the lookout tower at the highest peak in Central China, exploring the mysterious place - Banbi Rock. Afterward, visit China's most beautiful wetland, known as the "Shangri-La" in dreams - 【Dajiuhu National Wetland Park】 (approximately 2 hours of sightseeing), a tourist destination that integrates primitive forests, natural lakes, alpine meadows, glacial landforms, marsh wetlands, military culture, and salt road culture, and is a paradise far from the hustle and bustle of the city and worldly troubles. The nine lakes in the park resemble nine scattered mirrors, reflecting the waves of the ridges, the colors of the four seasons, the migration of migratory birds, and the dancing shadows of trees. Stay in Shennongjia Pingqian Town for 1 night.



Day 6 Shennongjia - Yichang (approximately 3.5 hours by car, 280 kilometers)
After breakfast, drive to Yichang, and after arriving, take the scenic area sightseeing bus to visit the hydraulic engineering project - 【Three Gorges Dam】 (including scenic area sightseeing bus, approximately 3 hours of sightseeing). Take the sightseeing bus to reach the 196 platform, then take the sightseeing elevator to Tanzi Ridge, where you can overlook the entire construction of the Three Gorges Dam area from 【Tanzi Ridge】. It is named for its top observation deck resembling an inverted altar, allowing you to appreciate the grandeur of the Three Gorges Dam and observe the towering "Fourth Gorge of the Yangtze River" with its two-way five-level ship lock. Visit the 【185 Viewing Platform】, located at the left bank entrance of the Three Gorges Dam top road, named for being at the same elevation of 185 meters as the dam top. From the platform, looking down feels like being on the dam top, allowing you to closely experience the majesty of the dam while enjoying the magnificent scenery of the high gorge and the flat lake. Take the sightseeing bus across the Yangtze River Bridge in Xiling, and visit the 【Intercept Memorial Park】, appreciating the perfect combination of man and nature. Day 7 Xiling Gorge Scenic Area - Enshi (approximately 3.5 hours by car, 250 kilometers)
After breakfast, visit the 4A scenic area of Xiling Gorge, the pearl of the Three Gorges of the Yangtze River - 【Sanyou Ancient Cave】, known for its beautiful scenery, which was once referred to as a "fantasy" by ancient people. Throughout history, many who passed through Yiling (Yichang) came here to visit, expressing their feelings through various calligraphic styles and poetry, prose, murals, and inscriptions, engraved on the stone walls. To this day, there are still over 40 wall carvings and inscriptions from the Song Dynasty by Ouyang Xiu and the Ming Dynasty re-engraved "Sanyou Cave Preface", leaving behind valuable cultural historical materials. Afterward, watch the performance of "Three Gorges: Unparalleled Elegance". In the afternoon, drive to Enshi, and after arriving, visit the national 4A scenic area known as the city of daughters, where no man has a second heart, 【Enshi Daughter City】 (approximately 1.5 hours of sightseeing). Daughter City is a gathering place for Tujia culture and aims to create the first cultural tourism commercial ancient town in western China and the capital of matchmaking in China. Stay in Enshi hotel for 2 nights.
 

Day 8 Enshi - Enshi Grand Canyon (approximately 2 hours by car, 80 kilometers)
After breakfast, drive to the 【Enshi Grand Canyon】 (approximately 4 hours of sightseeing). Upon arrival, visit the 【Yunlong River Rift】, located within the Enshi Grand Canyon, running along the foot of the cliffs on the front mountain of the canyon. It is about 20 kilometers long, with an average depth of 100 meters, and the rift is shaped like a "8", being narrower at the top and wider at the bottom. The average width at the top is about 16.8 meters, and at the bottom, it is about 30 meters. The entrance of the rift is over 100 meters wide, with the rushing Yunlong River flowing through it. The cliffs on both sides are steep and confrontational, creating a magnificent and perilous scene; there are numerous waterfalls cascading down, creating a spectacular view; the bottom of the rift has many dangerous rapids, with giant rocks standing tall and deep pools scattered throughout, along with strange and unique stones everywhere. Afterward, take the cable car to visit the 【Qixingzhai Scenic Area】, known as one of the most beautiful canyons in the world, featuring breathtaking sights such as the hundred-mile cliffs, thousand-foot waterfalls, towering peaks, primitive forests, and ancient villages. The beauty of the enclosed space of the cliffs, the peaks standing tall, the terraced fields shrouded in mist, and the beauty of the Yunlong River rift are all presented in a complete and typical manner, making it a vast natural museum of karst landforms. After the tour, return to Enshi.
Note: The tour of Enshi Grand Canyon does not have a return route, and there are many ups and downs on the mountain paths, so remember to bring some snacks like energy bars for timely energy replenishment.



Day 9: Enshi - Jingmen (approximately 5 hours, 350 kilometers)
After breakfast, drive to Jingmen, enjoying the scenery of the Zhanghe Reservoir along the way. The Zhanghe is located in the central part of Hubei Province, 18 kilometers east of Jingmen city center. Construction began in July 1958 and was completed in 1966. The reservoir dam is located in the Zhanghe Town (Yandun Town) at the junction of the northwestern mountainous area of Hubei and the Jianghan Plain. The reservoir controls a drainage area of 2,212 square kilometers, accounting for 74.5% of the Zhanghe drainage area. The Zhanghe Reservoir is formed by damming the eastern branch of the Juzhang River, a tributary of the Yangtze River, creating a reservoir group connected by three open channels, making it the largest reservoir under the jurisdiction of Hubei Province and one of China's well-known artificial reservoirs, as well as one of the nine large reservoir irrigation areas in China with over 2 million acres. After that, visit the 【Mingxian Tomb】, located on Chunde Mountain, 5 kilometers northeast of Zhongxiang City, Hubei Province. It was built from the 14th year of the Ming Zhengde era (1519) to the 45th year of the Ming Jiajing era (1566), taking 47 years to complete. It is the joint tomb of Emperor Zhu Youjian, the father of Emperor Jiajing of the Ming Dynasty, and Empress Cixiao. The Mingxian Tomb was transformed from a royal tomb and is the only Ming Dynasty imperial tomb in the six provinces of central and southern China, covering an area of 183.13 hectares, making it the largest single imperial tomb of the Ming Dynasty. Its planning layout and architectural techniques are unique, playing a transitional role in the rules of Ming Dynasty imperial tombs, and the "one tomb with two graves" structure is unparalleled among the tombs of emperors throughout history. Stay overnight at a hotel in Jingmen.
 

Day 10: Jingmen - Jingzhou (approximately 2 hours, 90 kilometers) Jingzhou - Honghu (approximately 2.5 hours, 200 kilometers)
After breakfast, drive to Jingzhou. The 【Jingzhou Ancient City】 historical and cultural tourism area is located in Jingzhou City, Hubei Province, known as the "land of fish and rice". It is a national 4A-level tourist attraction, with the main attraction being the Jingzhou city wall, which is a key cultural relic protection unit in the country. Jingzhou Ancient City is one of the first 24 historical and cultural cities announced by the State Council, an excellent tourist city in China, the birthplace of Chu culture, and the hometown of Three Kingdoms culture. In August 2015, Jingzhou was awarded the title of "Most Beautiful Destination City in China" in tourism for its "cultural charm and special appeal". The main scenic spots in the Jingzhou Ancient City historical and cultural tourism area include: Dongmen Binyang Tower, Zhang Juzheng's Former Residence, Guandi Temple, Jingzhou City Wall Museum, Dabeimen Chaozong Tower, Anlan Gate, and Nanjimen. In the afternoon, drive to the 【Honghu Ecological Tourism Scenic Area】, a national agricultural tourism demonstration site. Honghu is one of the few large freshwater lakes in the world that remains unpolluted. The beauty of Honghu lies in its natural scenery, especially the blooming lotus flowers in the Lotus Garden, the winding hundred-meter-long corridor, the beautiful and kind lotus fairy, and the vast lotus ponds for viewing and lotus picking, along with other natural and cultural landscapes. Watch the indoor situational drama "The Liberation of the Working People" and the water battle performance "This Battle is Really Beautiful". Being in Honghu, you can row a small boat to pick lotus flowers, fish, or enjoy the wetlands of Honghu on an ancient-style boat, making you feel like you are in a fairyland. Stay overnight in Honghu.



Day 11: Honghu - Wuhan (approximately 2 hours, 130 kilometers)
After breakfast, drive to Wuhan and visit the 【East Lake Tingtao Scenic Area】, the largest urban lake in the country. This area is one of the core scenic spots of the East Lake Scenic Area, located on the northwest shore of the largest lake, Guozheng Lake. The shoreline of East Lake is winding and graceful, covering an area six times that of West Lake in Hangzhou, with vast blue waves and surrounded by green mountains, creating a beautiful landscape that truly reflects the essence of the East Lake Scenic Area. In the afternoon, visit the 【Yellow Crane Tower】, one of the three famous towers in Jiangnan and one of the four famous towers in the world, along with Yueyang Tower, Tengwang Pavilion, and Guanque Tower. Listen to the myths and legends related to the Yellow Crane Tower and the poems composed by literati throughout the ages, and you can climb the tower to enjoy a panoramic view of the three towns of Wuhan. Stay overnight at a hotel in Wuhan.



Day 12: Wuhan - Suizhou (approximately 2 hours, 170 kilometers)
After breakfast, drive to the Dahu Mountain Scenic Area in Suizhou. After switching to the small transportation within the scenic area, visit the main peak scenic area of Dahu Mountain, exploring the paradise of health - 【Dahu Mountain Scenic Area】. Take a leisurely stroll around the Bai Long Pond, which is open and surrounded by mountains, with lush vegetation and a picturesque landscape, earning it the title of "Yaochi in Central Hubei". The average annual temperature of Bai Long Pond is 18°C, with moderate humidity, making it an ideal summer retreat. The Baozhu Peak Daci En Temple has been a Buddhist holy site since the Tang and Song dynasties. After breakfast, head to the 【Suizhou Yandi Hometown Scenic Area】, the birthplace of the ancestor of the Huaxia people, Yandi Shennong—Lieshan, located at the southern foot of Jiulong Mountain in Lishan Town, Suizhou, Hubei Province. We will pay homage to the statue of Yandi, worship the ancestor Yandi, and visit the cultural sculpture group, Jiugong Bridge, Ancestor Worship Square, Yandi Shennong Hall, and Shennong Cave. Afterwards, we will visit the Health Living Museum. Conclude the pleasant trip in Hubei and drive back to Beijing. Stay overnight at a hotel in a midway city.

Day 14 Midway City - Beijing
After breakfast, depart and arrive in Beijing in the evening, concluding the wonderful self-driving trip.
