Beihai Park, also known as Northern Sea Park, is one of the oldest, largest andbest-preserved ancient imperial gardens in China located in center of Beijing.It covers an area of 690,000 square meters,including 390,000 square metersfor water. Beihai Park was initially built in the Liao Dynasty (916 - 1125) andwas repaired and rebuilt in the following dynasties including Jin, Yuan, Mingand Qing (1115 - 1911).The large-scale rebuilding in the reign of EmperorQianlong of the Qing Dynasty (1644 - 1911) generally established the presentscale and pattern. In 1925, it was first opened to the public, attractinghundreds of thousands of visitors from all over the world every year.It hasfour main scenic areas: The Eastern Shore Area, the Northern Shore Area, theBotanical Garden and the Circular City near the north gate.There are manyfamous and beautiful places you should not miss when touring it. Usually, 2hours will be good enough for visiting the main attractions, but if you prefer toexplore the whole park, it’ll take at least 4 hours. Involving plenty of walkingin this park, a pair of comfortable shoes is necessary when visiting.
