Muslim Quarter

Behind the Drum Tower is the famous Muslim Quarter. This area has been ahome to Chinese Muslims for over one thousand years. As the starting point ofthe famous Silk Road, Xi'an attracted traders from West since 1st century BC.The ancestors of these Muslims dwelled in Xian with Han people harmoniouslyand built Great Mosque for worship simultaneously. The Muslim Quarter is afascination area, mainly consists of 4 adjacent streets. Among these streets,Beiyuanmen is the best known and easy-to-spot one zestful with the endlessvendor hawk, grilled smog and the strong food aroma. This only 500-meter-long cobbled street was renovated in Tang Dynasty architecture style and onboth sides is full of snack or souvenir stalls with bright-colored signs. Here youcould also find some secluded lanes and corner are where the taste surprise isalways hide and patient exploration is required.
