Hanyangling Museum

Hanyangling Museum, also called Hanyang Mausoleum Museum, is the jointtomb of the fourth Emperor Jing (Liu Qi) and his queen in Western HanDynasty (206 BC-24 AD), 20 km north from Xian. It is the most intact royalmausoleum and the most important tangible document in the research ofburial customs and civilization from this dynasty ever discovered.Construction of Emperor's tomb began in 153 BC and was completed in 146BC.The mausoleum covers an area of 10 square kilometers; 6 km (3.73 mi)from east to west and up to 3 km (1.86 mi) south to north.  Since it was on thesite of Yi Yang County, the tomb gained its name Yangling. HanyanglingMuseum is its present name after the findings.The underground exhibition hallis an important part of the Hanyangling Museum. It is the first completelyunderground one in the world constructed on historic relic by most advancedtechnologies. The visiting of Hanyangling Museum usually take 1-2 hours. AsHanyang Mausoleum is very close to the airport, it is suggested to arrange onthe day to or from the airport.
