Kunming, the capital of Yunnan Province, is one of the important central cities in western China. Kunming has a low-latitude subtropical highland monsoon climate, with an average annual sunshine of about 2200 hours, a mild climate, no extreme heat in summer, no severe cold in winter, and a spring-like season all year round. Such climatic characteristics are rare globally, with flowers blooming all year round and greenery in all seasons, earning it the reputation of the "Spring City." As of 2018, the city's permanent population is 6.85 million, covering a total area of 21,473 square kilometers. Kunming is located in the southwestern region of China, in the central part of the Yungui Plateau, with a unique geographical position that connects the east to Guizhou and the coast, the north to Sichuan and Chongqing into the Central Plains, the south to Vietnam and Laos reaching Thailand and Cambodia, and the west connecting Myanmar to India and Pakistan. It is at the intersection of the north-south international thoroughfare and the third east-west Eurasian land bridge starting from Shenzhen, making it a gateway city for China's opening to Southeast Asia and South Asia. As an excellent tourist city in China, Kunming not only has the world geological park - Stone Forest, but also serves as a transit station to ancient cities like Dali and Lijiang.
