Jinghong

Jinghong, in the Dai language, means "City of Dawn". It was formerly known as "Mengle" and "Jinglong", and was also referred to as "Cheli" and "Cheli".

Jinghong, in the Dai language means "City of Dawn", was formerly known as "Mengle" and "Jinglong", and was also called "Cheli" and "Cheli". It is under the jurisdiction of Xishuangbanna Dai Autonomous Prefecture in Yunnan Province, located at the southern end of Yunnan Province, in the central part of Xishuangbanna Dai Autonomous Prefecture. Jinghong borders Pu'er City to the north, Jiangcheng County of Pu'er City to the northeast, Mengla County of Xishuangbanna Dai Autonomous Prefecture to the east, Menghai County of Xishuangbanna Dai Autonomous Prefecture to the west, and shares a border with Myanmar to the south, with a border line of 112.39 kilometers. It is the political, economic, and cultural center of Xishuangbanna Dai Autonomous Prefecture, covering a total area of 6,958 square kilometers. It is recognized as an excellent tourist city in China and a national garden city. Major scenic spots include Xishuangbanna Primitive Forest Park, Manting Park, Wild Elephant Valley, and Peacock Lake.
