Taiwan Province, abbreviated as "Tai", is a provincial-level administrative region of the People's Republic of China, with its capital in Taipei. It is located in the southeastern sea area of mainland China, facing the Pacific Ocean to the east, separated from Fujian Province by the Taiwan Strait to the west, and bordered by the Bashi Channel opposite the Philippine Islands to the south.

The population of Taiwan Province is about 23.6 million, with over 70% concentrated in the five major metropolitan areas in the western part of the island, among which the Taipei metropolitan area, centered around Taipei City, is the largest. The main ethnic minority in Taiwan, the indigenous peoples, had settled here before the Han Chinese migration in the 17th century; a society dominated by Han Chinese formed during the late Ming and early Qing dynasties; during the Yuan and Ming dynasties, a patrol office was established in Penghu; it was occupied by the Dutch and Spanish at the end of the Ming dynasty; recovered by Zheng Chenggong in 1662; the Qing Dynasty established Taiwan Prefecture, and Taiwan Province was set up in 1885; it was later ceded to Japan; after the victory of the Chinese People's Anti-Japanese War in 1945, the Chinese government recovered Taiwan. In 1949, the Kuomintang authorities originally based in mainland China retreated to Taiwan. Here, there are magnificent oceans, towering mountains, diverse natural ecology, and unique cultural customs. Famous natural tourist attractions include Alishan, Sun Moon Lake, Taroko Gorge, Yushan, Kenting, and Yangmingshan. Scenic towns such as Jiufen Old Street in Ruifang District, New Taipei City, Beitou District in Taipei City, Lugang Township in Changhua County, and Yingge District in New Taipei City are rich in local flavor and are popular destinations for exploring ancient sites.
