Inner Mongolia
Classification:

Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, abbreviated as "Inner Mongolia", has its capital in Hohhot. It is located in the northern part of China, bordering Heilongjiang, Jilin, Liaoning, and Hebei to the northeast, adjacent to Shanxi, Shaanxi, and Ningxia to the south, connected to Gansu in the southwest, and sharing borders with Russia and Mongolia to the north. Inner Mongolia covers a total area of 1.183 million square kilometers. The region has a relatively high terrain, with an average elevation of about 1,000 meters, and is essentially a plateau landform area. In the global natural division, it belongs to the southeastern part of the famous Mongolian Plateau in Central Asia and its surrounding areas, collectively known as the Inner Mongolia Plateau, which is the second largest plateau among China's four major plateaus. Inner Mongolia is vast, situated at a high latitude, with a large plateau area, far from the ocean, and surrounded by mountains, resulting in a climate primarily characterized by temperate continental monsoon. It features low and uneven precipitation, strong winds, and significant temperature variations between cold and hot seasons. The northern section of the Greater Khingan Range belongs to a cold temperate continental monsoon climate, while the area west of Bayannur—Haibowan—Bayankhoto is characterized by a temperate continental climate.
