Luoyang means "north of the Luo River." Luoyang is located in the western part of Henan Province, surrounded by mountains on three sides, with a vast fertile plain on the other side. The Hulaoguan in the east and the Hangu Pass in the west are the throat of ancient east-west transportation, while Mengjin in the north was an important crossing of the Yellow River in ancient times, and the Xuanyuan Pass in the south is an important gateway from Luoyang to the Jianghan Plain, making its geographical position very important. Luoyang was one of the seven ancient capitals of China, with a civilization history of over 5,000 years, a city history of over 4,000 years, and a capital history of over 1,500 years. Luoyang is one of the birthplaces of Huaxia civilization, the eastern starting point of the Silk Road, and the center of the Sui and Tang Grand Canal. The most famous tourist attractions in Luoyang include the Longmen Grottoes, one of the three major grottoes in China, and the Baima Temple, known as the 'first ancient temple in China.'
