Longsheng Various Nationalities Autonomous County, located in the northeastern part of the autonomous region, covers an area of 2,538 square kilometers and has a population of 170,000. It is 371 kilometers in a straight line from the capital Nanning and 63 kilometers from Guilin, serving as the throat and logistics hub for the southwestern Hunan, southeastern Guizhou, and Sichuan entering Guangxi. During the Qin Dynasty, Longsheng was under the jurisdiction of Guilin Prefecture. The name "Longsheng" first appeared in historical records at the end of the Qing Dynasty. In 1912, it was renamed "Longsheng County". In 1956, it was renamed "Longsheng Various Nationalities Autonomous County", becoming the first ethnic autonomous county established in the Central and Southern regions. Longsheng is rich in tourism resources, featuring the national first-class scenic spot Longji Rice Terraces, known as the "world's unique", a hot spring regarded as the "first spring in South China" located within a national forest park and provincial tourist resort, and the Huaping Primitive Forest Protection Area, which is the closest to the tourism center city and listed as a national nature reserve.
