Shubai Time Restaurant Interior
The restaurant is located in a quiet courtyard to the north of Shuhe Ancient Town in Lijiang Old Town. The courtyard is elegantly arranged and has a small vegetable garden. Sitting in the rocking chair in the courtyard gives a feeling of tranquility amidst the hustle and bustle, as if time is flowing backward. The restaurant owner used to run a restaurant near the Baisha murals and had many repeat customers. Eventually, they moved the restaurant back to their old courtyard to operate. After renovation, the restaurant can accommodate up to 130 people, with a hotel upstairs and dining downstairs. The owner couple are authentic Naxi people, with the female owner as the chef, preparing traditional Naxi dishes. The male owner knows some simple English and often chats with diners about Naxi customs or cuisine. Signature dishes include Lijiang Baba, stir-fried yak meat, homemade sour plum soup, mixed seasonal vegetables, sauerkraut stir-fried potatoes, tofu, vermicelli, twice-cooked pork, black fungus, and pumpkin stewed potatoes.
