Kaili is an industrial and tourist city in Guangzhou province, covering an area of 1,306 square kilometers, slightly large than Hong Kong. It is not very far from the provincial capital Guiyang of Guihou, just 190 kilomters away.

Kaili neighbors the Qingshuijiang (Clear Water River) that breeds huge numbers of ethnic minority villages among which Xijiang Miao Village and Langde Shangzhai are the biggest and best-preserved. Miao Nationality takes up approximately half of its ethnic population. Also, Kaili city is full of ethnic festivals and celebrations all around the year, 136 in total, which makes Kaili the ‘home of festivals’.
