The Shaanxi History Museum is located on the east side of Xiaozhai East Road, northwest of the Big Wild Goose Pagoda. It is the first modern national museum in China. It was built in 1983 and opened to the public in 1991. The Shaanxi History Museum covers an area of 65,000 square meters, of which 11,000 square meters are exhibition halls, and 8,000 square meters (about 2 acres) are used as artifact storage. It houses over 300,000 cultural relics, including murals, paintings, pottery, coins, as well as bronze, gold, and silverware. The Shaanxi History Museum in Xi'an is praised as "a pearl in ancient Chinese history and a hall of Chinese treasures," representing thousands of years of history and ancient brilliant culture in China. China's summer vacation is from July to August, so it is recommended not to visit the museum during this period due to the large number of people. Generally, it is suggested to spend 2-3 hours visiting the museum.
