The Han Jingdi Yangling Museum is located on the banks of the Wei River in the northern suburbs of Xi'an. It is the mausoleum where Emperor Liu Qi of the Western Han Dynasty and Empress Wang are buried together in different tombs. Construction began in 153 BC and was completed in 126 BC, covering a total area of 20 square kilometers and taking 28 years to build. After more than forty years of archaeological exploration and excavation, it has been confirmed that Han Yangling mainly consists of the imperial tomb area, the empress's tomb area, southern burial pits, northern burial pits, ceremonial buildings, accompanying burial cemeteries, convict burial sites, and Yangling City. Its rich burial items are a true reflection of the feudal emperors' concept of funerals in China, which emphasizes treating the deceased as if they were alive. Han Yangling is the most well-preserved imperial tomb complex from the Han Dynasty discovered to date, making it an important physical resource for understanding and studying the imperial burial system and the historical culture of the Han Dynasty. The uniquely designed underground site museum will surely amaze you and make you reluctant to leave. Since Han Yangling is very close to the airport, it is usually recommended to arrange a visit on the day of pick-up or drop-off, with a typical tour time of 1-2 hours.
