In Ping'an Village, located in the southeastern part of Longsheng County, there is a large-scale terraced rice field, with all the terraces distributed between an altitude of 300-1100 meters, and the maximum slope reaching 50 degrees. They spiral from the foot of the mountain to the top, layer upon layer, with varying heights. The lines flow like clouds and water, and the scale is magnificent and spectacular, known as the "Longji Rice Terraces." The distance from Guilin to the Longji Rice Terraces scenic area is about 77 kilometers, and it takes 1.5-2 hours to drive one way, so it is recommended to set aside at least a day for the visit. The Longji Rice Terraces include the Ping'an North Zhuang Terraces and the Jinkeng Red Yao Terraces, both of which showcase bold cuts and intricate carvings; they are both imposing and contain a delicate artistic charm. Due to the varying mountain formations, they present two distinct poetic and picturesque realms. The Longji Rice Terraces are located deep in the lofty mountains at an altitude of 1916 meters, known as the "Crown of World Terraces" and "A Unique Wonder of the World." Each season has its own charm, and this area is rich in the authentic customs and folkways of ethnic minorities such as the Dong, Yao, Miao, and Zhuang, making it a popular tourist destination for photography enthusiasts and nature lovers.
