The Jiulong Waterfall Group is located 22 kilometers north of Luoping County in Yunnan Province. Due to its unique geological structure and the erosion of water over thousands of years, it has formed a series of ten waterfalls of varying heights and widths, each with its own distinct shape. The largest waterfall is 112 meters wide and 56 meters high, majestic and spectacular, known as the first waterfall of Jiulong. The Jiulong Waterfall, named after the Jiulong River from which it originates, is the most famous waterfall group on the Jiulong River. The local Bouyei people have traditionally referred to it as "Da Die Shui" (Great Waterfall), while people commonly call it "Jiulong Waterfall." The ten waterfalls vary in grandeur, steepness, beauty, and gentleness, offering incomparable beauty that surprises viewers from different angles. During the flood season, the roar of the great waterfall can be heard from miles away. In addition to the waterfalls, visitors can also experience the unique ethnic customs of the Bouyei people. Every year, the second day of the second lunar month and the third day of the third lunar month are celebrated as the Bouyei people's duet festival and water-splashing festival, respectively. On these days, people of all ages gather by the river to sing folk songs and watch bamboo raft races. Young men and women from the surrounding areas, who are just beginning to experience love, engage in grand outings, singing contests, and social activities over the next three days to establish romantic relationships. This place offers beautiful scenery throughout the year, and a half-day visit is recommended.
