Jade Dragon Snow Mountain

Classification:

Yulong Snow Mountain is located in the northern part of Lijiang, with a total length of 75 kilometers. It is the closest snow-capped mountain to the equator in the Northern Hemisphere, bordered by the Zhongdian Snow Mountain to the west and the Mianmian Mountain to the east, and it spreads out like a fan towards the ancient city from the Sanjiangkou in the north. The 13 peaks of the mountain are arranged vertically from south to north, with the highest peak, Fanzi Peak, reaching an elevation of 5596 meters, covered in snow year-round. In the Naxi language, Yulong Snow Mountain is called "Olu," meaning "Heavenly Mountain." Its thirteen snow peaks stretch continuously, resembling a "giant dragon" soaring and dancing, hence the name "Yulong." Due to its rock composition mainly consisting of limestone and basalt, which are distinctly black and white, it is also known as the "Black and White Snow Mountain." It is a sacred mountain for the Naxi people, believed to be the embodiment of their protector deity "Sanduo." At Yulong Snow Mountain, you will surely be enchanted by the lush green grass and the blooming flowers, sometimes shrouded in mist and clouds, and at other times under a clear blue sky, as if entering a fairyland. The scenery here is beautiful throughout the year, and it is recommended to plan a half-day to a full day for tourism.
