Jiangsu province, located in the east of China, sharing borders with Anhui, Shangdong, Zhejiang and Shanghai. The capital city of the province is Nanjing, located in the center of the province. It spans a total area of over 107 thousand square kilometers with a population of 80 million.

Jiangsu came into its own during the Song Dynasty when the Grand Canal allowed Jiangsu to develop into an important trade center, and made possible the sale of its rice, salt and silk to other parts of China.

Jiangsu is laced with canals, rivers and lakes, which earned it the nickname ‘Land of Water’. The province is rich in tourism resources, such as classical gardens (gardens in Suzhou), interesting water towns (Zhouzhuang Water Town & Tongli Water Town), Grand Canal and great lakes (Tai Lake).
