The Zhangye Danxia National Geological Park

The Zhangye Danxia National Geological Park located near the city of Zhangye in China’s northwestern Gansu province. It also known as ZhangyeDanxia Geopark,  covers an area of 510 square kilometres. Formerly aprovincial park and scenic area, it became a national Geopark in the year of2011. It named for the unusual colors of the rocks, which are smooth, sharpand several hundred meters tall. They are the result of deposits of sandstoneand other minerals that occurred over 24 million years. The Zhangye DanxiaNational Geological Park has been voted by Chinese media outlets as one ofthe most beautiful landforms in China. The inscribed site comprises six areasfound in the sub-tropical zone of south-west China.They are characterized byspectacular red cliffs and a range of erosional landforms, including dramaticnatural pillars,towers,ravines,valleys and waterfalls. The sunset here ishighly recommended.It looks magnificent with the scarlet sunlight slantingacross the land. It takes about 4-6 hours to finish the whole trip.
