Yuan Yang County is one of the counties under the jurisdiction of Honghe Prefecture in Yunnan Province. The county is located in the southern part of Yunnan Province, spanning 74 kilometers from east to west and 55 kilometers from north to south, covering an area of 2,189.88 square kilometers. The total population is 424,284, and Yuan Yang County is home to seven ethnic groups: Hani, Yi, Han, Dai, Miao, Yao, and Zhuang, with a minority population of 376,018. Yuan Yang County is a major settlement for the Hani people, and Hani culture includes ecological culture marked by forests, agricultural culture characterized by terraced fields, culinary culture featuring long street banquets, architectural culture symbolized by mushroom houses, clothing culture centered on embroidery, festival culture represented by the "Bitter Zhazha" festival where humans and gods celebrate together, customs culture focused on "Dragon Head" and interactions among villagers, song fair culture marked by the palm fan dance and wooden bird dance, artistic culture represented by totems and hand embroidery, religious culture symbolized by Bema, medical culture centered on Hani medicine, and drum culture marked by the bronze gong, among others.
